SBH Scotland
Website design & coding

We’ve worked with the team at Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland for almost as long as we’ve existed! We took over the organisation’s website back in 2011 and have worked with them in various ways ever since.

The charity rebranded from the Scottish Spina Bifida Association to SBH Scotland in 2015 and we rebuilt their online presence to reflect this. A few years later they came back to us again, and asked us for a refresh of the site’s design to bring it right up-to-date.

The site features information pages for those who are fresh to the charity or for those who are already using their services, as well as giving users the ability to book on to events and also sells some of the charity’s merchandise.

A news section is frequently updated and users are also invited to sign up to the charity’s newsletter.

What we did

We worked closely with the marketing team at SBH Scotland on building the new design, ensuring it was consistent with other material.

One key element was ensuring continuity of service through the rebuild – because of the scale of the site it needed to happen in the background, with the existing site remaining active until the new one was ready to go. We were able to support the team in managing this.

The new site uses strong contrasts and friendly typefaces to help ensure ease of access. Elements appear as the user scrolls, which provides visual interest throughout, and as a whole the site is able to make more use of imagery and video than previously.
